| Is God our do-it-all doctor? |

Be it physical or emotional, I believe that God can and does provide healing in some form or another according to His will. That healing may even come in the form of a doctor or natural remedy (God created them after all). But if He so chooses, in accordance to His will, He may intervene directly.

He provides emotional healing through the peace of Christ for those who believe in Him, and He has provided for us hope that we can read in scripture. Even those who suffer can still cling to hope and hold tightly onto Him, for Him, and through Him, even when it feels difficult to press on.
He won't always provide a quick fix to our every demand, as even in our struggles we are tested in our faith. Are we willing to praise Him still even in our pain, or are we quick to panic and doubt when things go wrong?
Sometimes God may even use our pain to allow something good to arise, such as a change in someone's heart, inspiration to raise awareness, or the ability to reach out to those in need by relating to others through a shared experience. God can make good out of any negative experience, as He is able to see beyond our own limited insight and understanding.
Sometimes our pain is a "thorn in the flesh", a reoccurring pain that may interfere from time to time. The apostle Paul believed that, although he "pleaded with the Lord to take it away", such thorn was to keep him from being conceited, so he may "boast all the more gladly about (his) weakness" (see 2 Corinthians 12; also check out CQQ #12: "Thorn in the Flesh...?").
Even if we don't receive the healing we may desire today, those who believe in and accept Christ are guaranteed healing from all forms of pain when the time comes to join Him in paradise. And when God renews the world in the future, there will be no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more death (see Revelation 21:4).
Healing won't always be immediate or quick, but in our building of patience and endurance we can learn to cling onto Christ for hope to overcome our obstacles. He knows every person and understands our hearts and our needs and the pain and struggles we go through. It's always good to pray and tell Him all about it. Don't run from Him, run to Him.

God still heals but sometimes uses the doctors. My wife prayed for a man whose son pulled over in front of our house. He was going to the hospital and his dad stopped responding. When I got to the car the man looked dead. As I felt his chest my wife cried out one word, "Jesus". The man's eyes popped open at that moment.
ReplyDeleteWe later learned the man had been bleeding internally and had lost a lot of blood. When he was checked out at the hospital, they found the place where his intestines had been bleeding had "healed itself". I am not a Pentecostal but I do believe that God still heals and works wonders.
On the other side, ironically, I went to the hospital a week later with high blood pressure and an aching left arm. They put 2 stents in my arteries and told me I had a heart attack because of the blockages. One doctor said, "Someone was looking out for you." I told him, "Yes, his name is Jesus."
So, we witnessed a miraculous healing and a testimony based on a medical treatment all in the span of about a week

ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can add is that God has used every illness, surgery, health malady that my husband and I have ever had to comfort others with the comfort from which we have received!
I holy agree..don't turn away from God when sick, depressed or in pain! Lean in as close as possible to Him for His comfort, healing, love and direction! C.Saltz
Oh yes, I believe in God's healing. I also believe for one reason or another he may not heal the way we want, but waits for heaven to heal us completely.
ReplyDeleteSome people in the Gospels were not healed because of their unbelief (those in Nazareth). Maybe we don't believe in His power like we should.(?).Maybe God wants us to take care of the body we have by eating well instead of the high carb and high sugar diet most of us have ...could we actually bring our bad health on ourselves? Just thoughts.
I think the most important healing is of our mind, will and emotions. God can take away our emotional pain through our forgiveness of those who caused it.
I absolutely believe in godsG healing power, having seen it happen in my wife twice. You hit the nail on the head with this post.
ReplyDeleteAs far as medical marijuana, I am not opposed to it if it is not abused. I use herbal remedies and would probably have been burned as a witch in a different era lol. I have used Dogwood tea to clear up poison ivy and a crazy tea concoction that includes cayenne and peppermint, I drink sole water each morning .I believe God has given is natural remedies .
I am always dubious of one who calls himself a "healer" but I believe God can heal through us if He so chooses. Good post my friend.
